Part #2: PokerStars Mobile Changes the Game

It was about to happen sooner or later and two years after PokerStars had bought mobile gaming firm Cecure Gaming they finally launched PokerStars Mobile in late 2011. The world’s largest online poker site had been keeping a close eye on the development of mobile poker and now they were ready to bring it to the next level.

Until then most mobile poker apps had been ripped down versions of the desktop client’s without tournaments or multi-tabling. Switch Poker was an exception of this and their multi-tabling web app supported playing up to 4 tables simultaneously on an Android Tablet. Switch Poker had been the first one to introduce multi-tabling poker for mobile but they were too missing sit n’ go’s and tournaments amongst many other features normally found in the desktop software.

PokerStars is one of the latest poker sites that have gone mobile with their launch of iOS and Android poker apps. PokerStars Mobile is available for iPhone, iPad and Android to players from the UK, Italy, France, Finland, Sweden, Romania, Poland, Slovenia, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

PokerStars Mobile available in EU

After successfully launching PokerStars Mobile in the UK, Italy and France earlier this year PokerStars is now releasing the app elsewhere in Europe. Players from all the European countries that have access to PokerStars.eu can download the app from the PokerStars Mobile portal. The new PokerStars.eu is regulated by Malta so the games are tax free for European players. More countries will be moved to the .eu site and Malta regulatory area in the future, but right now players from Finland, Sweden, Romania, Poland and Slovenia are able to play using PokerStars Mobile.

Players on the regular PokerStars.coPokerStars Mobile on iPhone and iPad m are not being left in the dark. More countries will get the PokerStars Mobile app in the future “as a part of a multi-phased release plan”, commented Jeffrey Haas, the Director of New Platforms at PokerStars.

““We want to cater to players on whatever devices they may have, wherever they might be and whenever they want to play poker,”, said  Jeffrey Haas.

PokerStars Mobile, an unique feature rich multi-tabling mobile poker app is now available in the UK. United Kingdom is the second market where the app is released, after it was succesfully launched in Italy before. PokerStars Mobile seems to be finally bringing the same poker playing experience to your mobile as you are used to when playing from a PC. It has many of the same features as the normal PokerStars PC client. Some of the features included are: different poker variations from Texas to Omaha, multi-tabling, sit n’ go’s, all the same multi table tournaments as on PC, chat and hand histories. PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site is entering the mobile gaming markets in 2012. Actually they have already released a mobile poker app for iPhone,iPad and iPod Touch, but for now, it’s only available in Italy. Italian poker players can get the app from the Italian Apple iTunes Store. The rumours are that PokerStars will be releasing the iPhone Poker app for other European markets this year and UK, Spain, France and Denmark might be amongst the first countries to get it. PokerStars Android is also in the making, but it’s yet unknown when it will be released.
